On top of a mountain

Life can often feel like a series of never-ending challenges, with moments where it seems like your efforts are never enough. I've experienced this firsthand, and I want to share a deeply personal story that might inspire you to keep going, even when the going gets tough.

Just after my birthday, I faced one of the most challenging weeks of my life. My son was in excruciating pain and had to undergo emergency surgery. The day was a nightmare, overwhelming in every sense. But to my surprise, I handled it with a calm and centered demeanor, thanks to the practices I’ve embraced, especially the Umana Technique. I was able to support my son with very little resources, feeling a significant improvement in my emotional wellbeing and outlook. I didn't experience any adrenaline; instead, I stayed focused and composed.

Two days later, my kitten was injured. My recovering son, who could barely walk, and I spent the night at the emergency animal hospital. The following days were filled with complications, late-night hospital visits, and the realization that the hospital had splinted the wrong leg. Despite these back-to-back crises, I maintained clarity and problem-solving skills, and I found constructive solutions to every issue.

At the same time, some very difficult people were coming at me and I had to find new and improved ways of communication and dealing with difficult people while my care responsibilities were acutely significant, with intense daily requirements. People around me were demanding, but I put them in their place with grace and focused on what mattered most. I found strength in my work, which became an anchor, giving me energy to navigate these demanding situations.

Through this journey, I've realized the importance of knowing what anchors you, what gives you energy, and what sustains you during difficult periods. Whether it's taking longer hot showers, prioritizing sleep, finding solace in nature, or indulging in self-care, these practices can make a world of difference. What stood out most to me during this time was my ability to remain compassionate and understanding towards others, even when I was overwhelmed.

It’s worth it to keep at it, even when it feels like you're just trudging through the mundane difficulties of life. With persistence, you'll reach a point where you feel like a wise sage—centered, calm, and with an enormous amount of compassion and understanding. You'll develop a healthy detachment to the stories and emotions, allowing you to navigate life's challenges with grace and clarity.
